OFFICIAL: Albert Celades takes on the U21

The international, who to date has trained the U16s, will take Julen Lopetegui's place with the current European Champion

Albert Celades is the National Team Manager chosen to take Julen Lopetegui's place as coach of the U21 Team. The coach and international has managed until now, the U16 squad. 

After a long trajectory was a footballer with FC Barcelona, Real Club Celta de Vigo, Real Madrid and Real Zaragoza, the coach left the pitch to begin a new phase as a coach. 

As international, Celades has played in all the subcategories of the National Team like the U16s and the U21s, getting to four international caps in total. 

As manager he has a great challenge ahead an impeccable journey to triumph taken by the Basque coach Julen Lopetegui with the generation of very promising players. Besides he will look on to the third European Championship after those achieved in Denmark in 2011 and 2013 in Israel, he will also take on the task of qualifying the team for the Olympic Games of Río de Janeiro in 2016. 

The next Spain matches which Albert Celades will coach will be on September 4th against Hungary as visitor and on the 8th of the same month against Austria at home. The U21s will only qualify mathematically for the European Cup qualifier in 2015, which will take place in Czech Republic.
