A draw was enough, but the U17 Women's squad didn't want to settle for that and the challenge was perfect for the girls led by Jorge Vilda who beat Iceland in the last round of the Elite Round qualified for the European Championshp which has been taking place in Buftea in Romania.

The players fought against the toughest rivals, who after the first half walked to the lockers on a 0-0 draw despite the added time and thinking of alternatives.

In the second half, the Spanish players were outstanding on the pitch until the 52nd minute when Laura Domínguez put them ahead on the scoreboard against the tough goalkeeper Hifarsdóttir.

Iceland answered back tightening the control over Jorge Vilda's girls looking to equalise the scoreboard with a goal by Hulda Hrund Arnarsdóttir twelve minutes from the end.

The Icelandic giles needed a win and looked for it in the game. They opened up spaces and were compative. Nahikari García, the top scorer in the tournament, with two quality shots gave Spain the win and put them on route to the European Cup in England.
