Thiago Alcantara has undergone an operation due to the ligament injury he sustained on his right ankle and will be off for seven weeks

Thiago, who suffered from "syndesmotic torn ligaments" on his right ankle, will have to walk with crutches for roughly 5 to 6 weeks.

The Spanish player was awarded Best Player of the U21 European Championship in Israel, and will not be called by Vicente del Bosque for the games against Finland and Chile in September, nor those against Belarus and Georgia in October.

Bayern Munich's webpage states the first reactions of coach Josep Guardiola, who hopes the player will be back by November: " We'll miss him, he's going to be missing a long time" given that Thiago is "a special football player" and is "very important" for the team.

Thiago was injured on Saturday 24th August during the second half of the Bavarian derby against Nuremberg and was substituted by Thomas Müller.
